Hi, my name is Viola and I love what I do.
Even more, I love the feeling that comes from seeing others enjoy it too.
My very humble beginnings go back to the foster care system in New Jersey, The "Garden" State. I went on to be a Mom of 3 boys who I cherish always, while also becoming a tractor trailer driver, which I had aspired to all my life. (Girl's can Drive Big Trucks too)
I had to give up driving a truck because of an accident that made me
unable to continue in that field of work. (Some days I miss it but very few) Soap brought me a way to support my disabled self without being on disability.
I truly believe God empowers my business of soaping.
I bought a book on soap making after seeing how well people enjoyed them. I started reading and learning about soap and how to formulate my own recipes. After 6 month of trying to sell someone else's soap and studying, I created my very first recipe.
You won't find my recipe in a book anywhere! I made my first batch and God Blessed me with a winner. The recipe that I use today is the very same recipe inspired by my belief that God has a plan and I'm listening to him.
I discovered life can be tough, however God has helped me to learn to navigate through it all. I also learned you can't help a single one of God's souls unless you yourself are prosperous.
The Garden Soapery logo is made up of the "Viola" which means "tiny purple flowers". I'm from the "Garden" state of New Jersey and "Soapery" literally means "Soap Factory" so we have a little bit about how the name "The Garden Soapery" and the logo that stands for us came about.
It was always my goal to start some kind of a company that would help me in my endeavors to help foster children being aged out of foster care. There will be more to come on this subject as we grow to the size of a company that can make a true difference in the lives of foster children.
***Did you know that 25% of former Foster Care Children become homeless within 2 to 4 years of leaving the system??? 50% become homeless after aging out of foster care or Juvenile Justice systems within 6 months.*** We want to help be part of the change!
The Garden Soapery was born in 2015 and now I fully support myself. But I couldn't stop there, I also wanted to give back to the community around me.
I am dedicated to making sure the homeless in our area are clean. So far we've given away over 703 bars of handmade soap, and we aren't done yet! We accept donations in the form of tips at our events to help us offset the costs of making the soaps we donate as we continue to make this a bigger endeavor. While we send some soap to Kenya, the bulk of it goes to The Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia, SC.
We won't stop until we become a multi-million dollar company that employs others. Why? Our mission to to help provide second chances to the homeless population as well as implementing a program to keep kids from becoming homeless after their childhoods became upended. We want to be able to offer internships to kids being aged out of foster care. We want to provide a bar of soap to every homeless person in the USA and then the world, because we know the important of looking and feeling your best. Every purchase helps support this mission.
"Pretty is...YOU" and you, and you!!!
Thank you all for helping to make all of this a reality.
